For centuries, most works of art were created to express beliefs about the nature of the divine. This 45-minute tour, the first in a series exploring the relationship between faith traditions and works of art, highlights the major events in the life of Siddhartha Gautama, known simply as the Buddha, through works in the Museum’s Arts of Asia Galleries (Korea, India, China, and Japan), and emphasizes the variety of ways that postures, symbols, materials, and techniques have told the story of Buddhism throughout Asia at different times in history.
